"Left 4 Dead 2" More Fast on Linux, Rather than on Windows

"Left 4 Dead 2" More Fast on Linux, Rather than on Windows
The company moved a step Valve, creators of the legendary game Half Life 2 and Left 4 Dead from Windows to Linux was surprisingly fruitful.

When a company is to optimize the performance of Left 4 Dead 2 game for Linux, they found that the game runs better on Linux platform with OpenGL support.

In fact, the performance far exceeds that found in the DirectX performance on the Windows platform.

Improved performance is expressed through a blog post on the official Linux Valve team.

Left 4 Dead 2's performance in DirectX (Windows 7) is 270 FPS while in OpenGL (Linux) to reach 315 FPS. The use of OpenGL in Windows 7 is still under Linux, which is 303.4 FPS.

"Why is our game actually runs better in OpenGL? We consider more carefully and found no additional processing time per batch of a few microseconds in Direct3D (DirectX), "wrote the Linux Valve.

Linux Valve team continues to work with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel to further enhance its product capabilities in Linux.

This is in accordance with claim leadership of Valve, Gabe Newell some time ago that his company was bleak future under Windows 8 and strive to improve support for Linux.
