Processor manufacturer AMD is preparing to launch a five-processor new A-Series APU known by the code name "Trinity". The fifth model is intended for desktop computers.
According to the plan, the five new AMD processors that will be faced with an Intel Core i-Third Generation ("Ivy Bridge") is going to begin shipping to computer manufacturers in October this year, close to the release schedule of Windows 8 on October 26.
Previously, AMD "Trinity" A-Series APU was first released for the mobile market. CPU core processor combines with graphics processing (GPU) integrated Radeon HD 7000 series that supports Direct X 11.
Members of the line processor "Trinity" desktop, starting from the top to the budget segment, are:
- A6-5400: dual-core, 3.6 GHz, 3.8 GHz turbo mode until the GPU Radeon HD 7540D.
- A8-5500: quad-core, 3.2 GHz, up to 3.7 GHz turbo mode, the GPU Radeon HD 7560D.
- A8-5600: quad-core, 3.6 GHz, up to 3.9 GHz turbo mode, the GPU Radeon HD 7560D.
- A10-5700: quad-core, 3.4 GHz, up to 4 GHz turbo mode, the GPU Radeon HD 7660D.
- A10-5800K: quad-core, 3.8 GHz, up to 4.2 GHz turbo mode, the GPU Radeon HD 7660D.
Processor type and A8-A10 5600-5800K has a value of TDP (Thermal Design Power) of 100 watts, while the other type has a TDP of 65 watts. That is, the new AMD processors are not only faster than the previous generation, but also cooler.
Platform motherboard used for the five new processors and chipsets A75 Controller with Socket Fusion A85X FM2. A85X chipset supports RAID-5 and provide 6 or more SATA ports.
