32% of Users Access Facebook in the Bathroom, what about you?

Do you frequently access Facebook and Twitter in the bathroom? If so, it could be you one among the 'addicts' social media. According to recent studies, the time users spend on the Internet social networking site has now increased to 37% in the last 12 months. And almost a third (30%) of all time spent on mobile devices are used in social networking. Americans spent 27 billion minutes per month on Facebook and 3.6 billion minutes on Twitter.

"Social media really has become part of people's lives. Fact is ingrained and touches every aspect of what we do every day. Fact we get to bring a cell phone into the bathroom and plugged into social media," said Deirdre Bannon, Vice President of Social-NM Incite media Solutions, which was quoted by USA Today, Wednesday (05/12/2012).

Among the 'addicts' social media, 32% of them access Facebook and Twitter in the bathroom. They were from the age group 18 to 24 years. They update the status or just check the timeline in the bathroom. As for the age of 25-34 years was recorded at 28% and the remaining 15% aged 35-44.

Today more and more people are accessing the internet from a year ago. They spend more time on social networking sites. Total time spent on social networks increased by 37%. The average woman spends 18 hours and 20 minutes per month, while men spend about 13 hours.

Most social networking users was derived from the age group of 18-24 years, they spent more than 21 hours per month on social networks, followed by the age group 25-34 years who spent more than 20 hours.

The survey was conducted by Nielsen in its report entitled "State of the Media: Social Media Report", involving more than 200,000 Internet users in the U.S. during the month of July.
