Google some time ago unveiled a laptop called Chromebook Pixel. This device is the first Chrome-based laptops coming into the premium class.
Pixel Chromebook could be launched by Google to counter the dominance of the MacBook Pro (MBP) with Retina Display. Because the product also comes with a high-resolution screen.
Pixel Chromebook has 12.85 inch screen with touch capabilities resolution of 2560 x 1700. The resolution is slightly superior to the MBP 13 inch version (2560 x 1600). Pixel screen density level was slightly higher at 239 ppi versus 227 ppi.
In terms of kitchen runway, Pixel Chromebook comes with an Intel Core i5 processor with a speed of 1.8 GHz, combined with 4 GB of RAM. For the graphics side, Google relies on Intel HD4000 chip.
Quoted from PC World, Friday (02/22/2013), Pixel Chromebook sold at a high enough price. Pixel is equipped with a 32 GB SSD priced at 1299 dollars and for the 64 GB version priced at 1449 dollars.
Chromebook is not running a conventional operating system such a stand-alone Windows or Android. Instead, use the Chrome OS laptops made by Google which relies on an internet connection to be used.
The idea is Chromebook will function like a terminal that accesses the data and information stored in Google's data center.
Earlier, around mid-2012, Samsung and Google have been released Chromebook powered Intel processor and 4 GB RAM. Other manufacturers, Acer, has also been working closely with Google and spawn Chromebook models. Both are present in the middle segment.
