Reasons Computers Must Perform Defragment

Generally, the term Defragment was foreign to ordinary computer users, especially those who are just learning. Defragment does not directly affect whether or not missing data on a hard disk. But even so, help to speed up the Defragment process of accessing data on the hard disk.

Before performing the Defragment of your hard disk, it is better to first understand why we have to do the above process. In essence, Defragment is a process to unify the separate files with one another so that the reading of data to be much faster.

Fragmented Files

When no data is written on the disk hard disk, data is placed in order (in the real world, imagine you put LPG cylinders one by one in sequence). However, in the process, you perform various actions on those files. For example, you remove a file so that the place where the file was empty.

Back to the real world, imagine, if you've finished sorting the LPG cylinders until neat, but there are a consumer buying LPG cylinders and he wanted to buy a tube that is in the middle, not the one in the first place. Automatic, where the central tube is empty.

Furthermore, if you save a new file to your hard disk, the file could have been put in place that left the first file. And so on so that the sequence of files on the hard disk becomes more irregular. Just like you put a gallon of mineral water in LPG cylinders that have been sold earlier. Finally, LPG cylinders and mineral water are put together so it seemed sloppy.

If you have this, the files on the hard disk is no longer a regular, sequential and no longer look like hell. Although not dangerous to those files, but the process of reading the data on the hard disk becomes longer because the files are used regularly, now separated by the other files.

This is where we need to do the Defragment process, the process of bringing together separate files (fragmented) to be more presentable.

Perform Defragment process

How do I make the process of Defragment? Pretty simple. MS Windows already provides the tools to do Defragment. Here's how:

    Press the Start> All Programs.
    Highlight Accessories> System Tools.
    Choose Disk Defragmenter.

After that, first press the Analyze button once you're in the Disk Defragment window. This button serves to analyze whether the hard disk you need to defrag or not.

When the dialog box appears as shown below, then you have to do defragmentation. Defragment button.

Wait until the Disk Defragmenter to defragment completely.

It is better, if you perform the Defragment process when you are planning on not using the computer for long periods, eg 4-5 hours. So, you can leave your computer turned on and the Disk Defragmenter to do its work. It is important to note because the defragmentation process can be restarted from the beginning when you are accessing files on the hard disk is being processed.
