Mozilla Stop Developing Thunderbird

Mozilla Stop Developing Thunderbird

The development was stopped after the manufacturer threatened Thunderbird, Mozilla, concluded that the e-mail client program open source is "no longer in line with the ambitions of the company".

A description of it written in a letter published by the Mozilla technology site TechCrunch.

Letter written by the Managing Director of Thunderbird Jb Piacentino had been due to be presented to the users of Mozilla products on Monday (07/07/2012), but apparently has been leaked in advance and circulated on the internet.

Thunderbird is an e-mail client for desktop computers running Windows, Mac OS, and Linux has just announced the newest version is not until a month ago.

Although the development was stopped Thunderbird, Mozilla will continue to provide support for e-mail client program, including in terms of security and stability.

Furthermore, a letter of intent explaining the company's Mozilla to focus resources and efforts for the development of web and mobile projects. Examples of the Mozilla project associated with this field, among other mobile operating system OS and Firefox web browser for iPad-kit Junior.

Mozilla's decision is presumably related to the growing trend of internet leads to web and mobile. One result of that trend is that many people are now accessing e-mail from the web and mobile devices, not desktop client like Thunderbird.

Mozilla also "offered" the development of Thunderbird to individual or organizations who are interested. The final decision about the fate of the Thunderbird will be announced by the company's global non-profit in early September 2012.
