Scientists from the United States perform genetic engineering in mice. Rodent is born with the ability that no other mouse.
Reported by Softpedia, Tuesday (03/05/2013), by genetically engineering mice, then the animal has the ability to "super", as not to feel the cold. Genetically engineered mice are able to modify the nervous system, so the ability to feel the cold can be eliminated.
The scientists who made the genetically engineered mice explained, the purpose of the genetic modification they do this is to check whether the mice may have only one sensation (feeling). According to Scientific American, a few laboratory tests demonstrate the capabilities of these super mice.
In a test, the mice were placed in an area with low and high temperatures. Genetically engineered mice have a reaction to certain areas that have a high temperature (heat).
Based on these tests, rats can walk freely around the area with cold temperatures. Without any reaction, mice move freely in the cold area.
The findings are published in the Journal of Neuroscience. Scientificamerican reported that researchers can stop the production of cold receptors in mice.
The researchers tried to make a mouse feel comfortable in a cool area. It is intended that in the future they could design a pain medication without having to make patients numb.
