AUCKLAND - KimDotcom, who was allegedly involved in a conspiracy to defraud the entertainment industry millions of dollars through his old site Megaupload.com, has relaunched its online empire. Megaupload founder announced his new venture on Twitter.
The new site is called the Megabox offers musicians a way to sell their music directly to fans. "Major record labels think Megabox was dead. Artists will rejoice, this (Megabox site) will come and will leave you, "said Dotcom, as reported by the Telegraph, Sunday (24/06/2012).
Men are born with the name of Kim Schmitz in Germany was arrested in January in a raid at his mansion in Auckland, New Zealand. After his release on bail in February, Dotcom could eventually appear in the virtual world to speak to supporters.
Megaupload, he founded the site was known as a free online storage and streaming service. But later, prosecutors charged that the Dotcom and his staff deliberately ignore requests to remove infringing material and making illegal profits by using the site Megaupload.
Dotcom denies the charge and current along with six other staff, are facing the possibility of extradition decision is scheduled for August 6 upcoming. If extradited to the United States and found guilty, the Dotcom will face decades in prison.
