Sony Not Interests Make Cheap Tablet

Sony has just introduced the Xperia series tablet Tablet S apparently has no interest in competing with the 7-inch tablet manufacturers are aggressively targeting the market segment below.

Sony statement delivered by President of Sony U.S., Phil Molyneux said that Sony concentrating on the premium segment and will not make a model with a 7-inch tablet.

"That's not the direction of the company. Much innovation occurs at the high-end segment and the premium, we will focus there," Molyneux said Sony's strategy, as quoted by PhoneArena.

The same thing was revealed Calum MacDougall, when interviewed KompasTekno at IFA 2012 held in Berlin, Germany, on Thursday (30/08/2012).

He said the reason Sony chose tablet measures 9.4 inches on the Xperia S, is for the convenience of users. Sony also has designed several new applications, such as albums app, photo app, and a music app that claimed to be more intuitive and user friendly well used in tablet devices and smartphones.

Currently, Sony assume tablet with a screen size that is used in the Xperia S is the best. However, in the future there might, Sony will choose the other screen sizes, such as 7 inches.

"We (Sony) did not rule out a tablet with a smaller size. Importantly for Sony is all the user wants it and we can provide the best, we would have to produce it," added Calum.

7 inch tablet segment with a price range of 200 dollars was popularized by the Kindle Fire from Amazon and Google's Nexus 7.

A number of major manufacturers in addition to Amazon and Google are called are poised to enter this market segment, such as the rumored Apple will release a mini iPad tablet measuring 7.85 inches.

The Sony Xperia Tablet S tablet measuring 10 inches priced at 399 U.S. dollars for the 16 GB version, 499 dollars for the 32 GB version and 599 dollars for the 64 GB. All three are scheduled to slide 7 September next.
